39th Annual Bayou City Art Festival to be Presented by Capital One Bank

HOUSTON, Texas (September 2, 2010) – Bayou City Art Festival today announced Capital One Bank as the presenting sponsor for the 39th Annual Bayou City Art Festival Downtown, which takes place onSaturday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“Capitol One Bank is proud to be a supporter of Houston’s art scene, so we are delighted to present an event that does so much for local art organizations, especially during a year when they need it the most.” Annella Metoyer, Houston Market President for Capital One Bank, said. “In 2010, 40 percent of organizations have reported a decline in contributions, and many will be relying heavily on Bayou City Art Festival Downtown for funding. Now more than ever, we are committed to making this festival a huge success.”

Over the past 39 years, the Bayou City Art Festivals have raised more than $2.6 million for local nonprofit organizations. The annual, juried, fine art event boasts a unique outdoor gallery experience brimming with 300 top galleried artists representing 19 artistic media. Adding to the festive art walk are wine cafés, an interactive creative zone for children, restaurants, and a performing arts stage with on-going multicultural musical and dance entertainment. New features this festival will include daily outdoor performances of “Flexion,” featuring stunning aerial theatre by nationally touring performance group Wise Fool New Mexico, an extension into Tranquility Park and a special disability hour on Sunday, which will allow patrons with special needs to enter the festival an hour before it opens to the general public.

“We are thrilled to have Capital One Bank as our presenting sponsor,” Kim Stoilis, Executive Director of Bayou City Art Festival, said. “Capital One Bank has been a festival supporter in the past and we appreciate their continued support in helping us provide Houston with a high-caliber fine arts festival.”
