Vic Lee does not possess the typical artist’s background. From being a pro-athlete to bartending, some may wonder what led Lee to become an aspiring and remarkable artist. It all started with a little intuition and an inclination to explore his faith a little bit deeper than ever before.

Lee left college early to play out his dream as a pro-soccer player. After sustaining a career altering injury, Lee worked a few supplementary jobs, including bartending, for about 10 years. He then decided to venture out with a few business partners to pursue his love of health and opened up a series of athletic clubs in San Diego.

As the appointed Marketing Director of the business and decided to try a different angle on traditional advertising – he wanted to use cartoons. He searched for a local cartoon artist to create his advertisements but was unsuccessful in his attempt to find the right person for the job. After a few months, he gave up and decided to try it himself. Although he had no previous art training, Lee’s cartoons became very popular and they soon caught the eye of King Features. He began producing the comic strip “Pardon My Planet” which is now syndicated in more than 150 newspapers across the U.S.

In 2003, a situation that made him question his faith propelled Lee to bury himself in the study of theology and started to challenge ideals and beliefs that had been instilled in him since a young age. He felt an urge to begin painting and used this as an outlet to help him deal with the process of his own spiritual evolution and changing view of the world.

Vic Lee is now a prominent oil painter who shares his work in art galleries in La Jolla and San Diego. His work has been featured in numerous national and international publications, from Juxtapoz and Vision magazines to Santa Fe’s weekly arts magazine Pasatiempo and from Architectural Digest to Art Buyer Magazine. In 2006, New York Arts Magazine and World Arts Media included Lee on the prestigious list of "Top 500 Artists Worldwide." His current artwork can be seen at www.stvictordiaries.com.

Lee and his wife currently live in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
