Bayou City Art Festival 2009 Information

Festival Dates:
October 10 & 11, 2009

 

Festival Hours:
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days

 

Location:
Set against the backdrop of downtown Houston’s skyline -- in front of City Hall and around Hermann Square on the streets of Walker, Bagby and McKinney, as well as Sam Houston Park.

 

 

Tickets:
Adults: $10; Admission is free for children 12 and under. Over 31K patrons in 2008.

Parking Directions:
Available on city streets and for the usual event fee in the City Hall Annex, Hobby Center or Theater District Parking under Tranquility Park. Click here for more detailed information about parking locations and their proximity to the festival.

Offerings:
Fine juried art by 300 artists representing 19 media formats, including clay (decorative), clay (functional), digital (not photography), drawing/pastel, fiber/textiles, furniture (functional), glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media 2-D, mixed media 3-D, painting (acrylic or oil), painting (watercolor), photography (digital or computer manipulated), photography (traditional), printmaking (intaglio, relief and planographic), sculpture (3-D media), and wood. Plus, wine cafes, interactive Capital One Creative Zone for children and restaurants.

 

 

Nonprofit Partners:
Over the past 39 years, the Bayou City Art Festival has raised more than $2.5 million for local charities.

Entertainment:
Colorfully costumed international dancers, musicians and performing artists, including CORE Performance Company dancers.

 

Creative Zone:
The Capital One Bank Creative Zone is an interactive children’s area where children and adults alike can explore the fun of art. All proceeds of donations made in the Creative Zone are divided equally among participating charity partners. Over 7000 children reached in 2008.
